OWL Tasks

Task 1: In the Harry Potter cannon, we receive some excellent examples of how Transfiguration can be used as a weapon, or even a defense. For example, we see how Professor McGonagall transfigured a giant chess board to act as a defense for the Philosophers stone. I would like you to come up with 5 different ways in which you could use Transfiguration as a defense. Remember this is OWL year, I don’t want you to come up with something simple such as “I transfigured a bread roll into a dagger”. I would like a couple of sentences on each, explaining what you have transfigured, and how it would help you in a defensive way.

Task 2:

What do you believe are the 5 exceptions to Gamp’s laws of Transfiguration and why do you believe that they are the case?  Please write a short paragraph on each, explaining why you have chosen each one.

Task 3:

Please write a short essay discussing the following quote, “Human Transfiguration is a dangerous practice and should be banned”. Your essays should be at least 300 words, and discuss both the pros and cons of Human Transfiguration. If you are stuck, begin by thinking about what the long term effects of Transfiguration would be, and also about Animagi.
